Steve, as far as the technique goes, our Art Director, Valerio Ventura came up with it. The show wanted to steer clear of the graphic Powerpuff Girls/Dexter's Lab style and go with something completely different. Our character designs are very fluid and inspired by Al Hirschfeld. For the BGs we use lots of real paint splatters and textures, scan them, and then apply them to the digital paintings. I like painting this way a lot. It's very refreshing to not have to be so meticulous with everything.
